I have some video game company stocks, should I be worried about mall closures affecting their sales? That depends, the retail industry (non internet) has shown signs of changing, to say the very least. A number of large, established retailers have dramatically reduced the number of outlets, others have begun the shift to internet sales only and some have just plain disappeared. Does this effect the video game industry?

In a word, yes. The industry, along with many others, has seen a shift in the location and manner I which video games are purchased by users. The entire industry is undergoing a change from console to digital based distribution. Why?

Users, just like a growing number of retail buyers in other sectors, want product faster and easier than console or traditional retail outlets. It’s important, we think, to see if your stocks are making this shift to digital distribution and other transitions, along with the industry leaders and the rest of the retail world!

“If you don’t study any companies, you have the same success buying stocks as you do in a poker game if you bet without looking at your cards.” – Peter Lynch
